So, the Indiana Jones toys are out in full force, and brother, are they awesome. These are the toys I've wanted to own all my life, and thankfully, there are several to choose from. Sallah? You got it. Marion? You can get her figure two ways. And, there's lots of Indy. I have no less than six of them, and there's two others with some traps from the Hovitos temple from Raiders I don't have yet. The figures I own are listed here, because yes, I do have a "mine is bigger than yours" complex when it comes to toys:

All I'm really lacking are the army builders (Russian and German soldiers) and a couple of goofballs from Crystal Skull (Ugha Warrior and Cemetery Warrior) plus the vehicles, which I'm not sure about buying yet, especially since I don't have any German soldiers.

I had to be picky when buying these, since the paint on the eyes is often very, very bad. And really, there's no reason for that. But, these toys are phenomenally awesome, and the accessories are spot-on. I could do without the out-of-scale artifacts that are included with the basic figures, though, especially if it would save us 50 cents at retail.

I suppose it's no coincindence that Star Wars is taking a little break until the end of July with new releases. Hasbro is making both lines, and clearly knows the audience for Star Wars wants to buy Indy toys. They wanted these to take off, so they gave Star Wars a break. It worked, but then again, I'm almost completely worn out on Star Wars toys. Though I did buy a AT-AP Walker this weekend, and it's hella neat.

Here is your competition, from the 2009 GI Joe live-action movie. As you can see, it is patently ridiculous. Folks at Warner Brothers, you know you can do better than Paramount, the entity producing GI Joe. Just because it's based on a cartoon from the 1980s doesn't mean it still has to look ridiculous in a different way. I beg you, Warner Brothers, to look at what made the original property so charming in the first place, and not "update" or leatherize it. Some people say it worked for the X-Men franchise, but the only thing that time has proven about that is that copying that idea is bringing down genre films as a whole. I know you are worried about profits, since it's expensive to make movies, but not everything has to appeal to teenagers. Yes, they have money, but people who actually played with He-Man toys in the 1980s have lots more money, and some of them even have kids. GI Joe wave 7

or 2008 wave 3 if you're going that way. Clicky. I think they're all pretty great, except the Duke w/ jetpack. It's great to get some more accessories like JUMP packs, but I already bought that Duke mold twice. Wild Bill is looking better, the HISS Driver was better suited for the Target exclusive HISS Tank. However, the Viper, Spirit, and Snake Eyes are all looking great. This version of Snake Eyes was the one I had back in the day, so I'm glad it was updated. I was glad to see they went with the stereotype version of Spirit. I liked the updated look he got in DTC, but this is an anniversary line. The Viper is going to be bloody, just like the Crimson Guard in wave 5. Hasbro could get a lot of mileage out of this mold, by doing another Viper Pit set and selling us a bunch for $25. Major Bludd has been pushed back to wave 8.

That's what she said. Yes, the Star Wars Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon has been found and purchased at retail. Retail in Canada, anyway. Hell, for all we know, they're in the backroom of your local USA Toys R Us, waiting for the July 26th launch. After seeing the comparison between that and the original Falcon toy, I've come to realize there's no fucking way I can buy this. $150 really isn't a lot of money for what we're getting here (especially when you consider the $4-a-gallon gas these days), but it's just that I can't possibly put this thing anywhere. That thing is the size of a coffee table, and my apartment has no room for one of those. Plus, I have the 1995 POTF2 and 2004 OTC Falcons. Redundant doesn't even begin to describe this purchase. I wish I could say I could buy the AT-TE that comes out the same day, but I run into the same situation. However, both of those toys are masterpieces, and it's great to see Hasbro take big, big ris
