Star Trek headed back to Playmates

Clicky Apparently, it's only for the new movie coming out in winter 2008, but it's still a great piece of news since any Trek toys Playmates makes will be much cheaper than DST's line of figures and will be available in many more places.

Classics 2.0 wave 1

TF.com They're only gray colored hardcopies, but man, do they look great. Powerglide, even as an Ultra (read: uber-expensive) figure is easily my most-wanted. I thought it would be Prowl, but it's not. Judging by the Sunstreaker and Prowl molds, I assume (safely) that we're in for repaints from them into Sideswipe, Smokescreen, and Blue(silver)streak. These are a welcome sight after the movie line. I loved the movie line, it's just that I can't remember how to transform them back and forth any more. I think I'm going to have to start signing my paychecks over to Hasbro. Between the GI Joe 25th and the TF Classics, I'm going to be broke. At least I'll be a happy if not visibly insane hobo on the street with his stupid toys.

GI Joe wave 8?

Possible wave 8 images While I think Bludd, the Python Patrol Officer, and Roadblock are single packs, I have to believe the Baroness and Cobra Commander are comic pack figures. I really hope these are early prototypes. I find it hard to believe Major Bludd was pushed back twice if he's just a repainted Zartan with a new head and arm.

GI Joe wave 7

or 2008 wave 3 if you're going that way. Clicky. I think they're all pretty great, except the Duke w/ jetpack. It's great to get some more accessories like JUMP packs, but I already bought that Duke mold twice. Wild Bill is looking better, the HISS Driver was better suited for the Target exclusive HISS Tank. However, the Viper, Spirit, and Snake Eyes are all looking great. This version of Snake Eyes was the one I had back in the day, so I'm glad it was updated. I was glad to see they went with the stereotype version of Spirit. I liked the updated look he got in DTC, but this is an anniversary line. The Viper is going to be bloody, just like the Crimson Guard in wave 5. Hasbro could get a lot of mileage out of this mold, by doing another Viper Pit set and selling us a bunch for $25. Major Bludd has been pushed back to wave 8.

haulin' ass

Spent a little money last night. I scored some Joes, some Star Wars toys, and some Transformers movie Legends figures. Matt hooked me up with a Crimson Guard and Snow Job from wave 5 of the 25th Ann. line, after I had been to Target and only found leftover Snake Eyes figures from that wave. I also picked up the Duke/Cobra Commander comic pack, which also got me another sticker for Doc. Whee! For Star Wars, I found the Wal-Mart exclusive wave of comic packs and walked away with a full set for Darby and the seperation of the twins pack and a Marvel Boba Fett pack for myself, skipping the funky Clone set. I also scored a Padme from wave 8, which was the last figure I really wanted from the 2007 line. I bought a couple of packs of Allspark Battles Legends figures from the Transformers line too. I picked up Jazz/Bonecrusher and Ironhide/Blackout, and they're pretty neat. I think Ironhide is my favorite Legends-scale figure behind Barricade. Then, I went to Dollar General today to buy so

More GI Joe. Can you believe it?

Comic packs wave 4 Copperhead? Sold American. And the new Firefly looks great. Wave 6 carded and loose. Man, I used to stare at the back of my Joe packages back in the day trying to make out the details on that Cobra Commander figure, since I never found that one. It's wonderful to get a chance to find that guy at retail again. I never liked Wild Bill as a character in the cartoon. His action figures never fared any better with me. And, to be honest, this is the first 25th Anniversary figure I'm not a huge fan of. But, he has his fans, I'm sure, and since I'm going to buy a couple anyway, I just as well suck it up. It's kind of disappointing that Copperhead and Bill here aren't packed with their vehicles like they were back in the day, but I'm pretty sure that these new figures wouldn't fit in the old vehicles, and I'd rather Hasbro spent their tooling money on new figures than new vehicles.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.

The Sci-Fi 25 The best sci-fi moments from the last 25 years. It's great to see a list that isn't overly heavy on Star Wars. Check it out.

Masterpiece Starscream

Buy me! About damn time.

what a piece of junk.

I bought one of those Devastator knockoffs from Walgreens today. It's a bootleg of the Transformers G1 toy, and wow, is it a piece of shit. I bought one of these a couple years ago. I was so disgusted with it I threw it against a wall before throwing it away. I had heard the quality on these KOs was slightly improved of late, so I picked one up. While much better than my previous set, it's still a long way off. Scrapper, the bot that makes the right leg, refused to stay on the combined form, and Bonecrusher, the left arm, had a leg fall off since the plastic was so cheap. But there are some good points. It's a great way to get some accessories, even though a few guns are missing. And the bots in their single form are good for filling a display, even though their faces aren't painted. It was only $6, so buyer beware. I clearly had too high of expectations for this set, and for once, people on the interwebs complaining about how shitty it was were completely correct.
